Professional Tax is a State-level tax levied on professions and trades in India that has to be paid by every member of staff employed in private companies. The professional tax is usually a slab amount based on the gross income of the professional. It is deducted from the employee’s income every month. The slab for professional tax varies across the different states in India.
Every employer not being an officer of the Government liable to pay tax under section – 4 shall obtain a certificate of registration from a Professional Tax Officer.
